Eight national teams have confirmed their passage to the round of 16 of the 2023 U-20 World Cup which will take place in Argentina.
Uzbekistan and Ecuador are the two newest teams to ensure qualification for the knockout phase. This certainty came after Group A and Group B finished their last match on Saturday (27/5) in the morning WIB.
The U-20 Uzbekistan national team managed to beat Guatemala 2-0 through two goals from Shakhzodjon Nematjonov. This result made Uzbekistan accompany Argentina to qualify from Group A. In other matches, Argentina destroyed New Zealand 5-0.

Meanwhile in Group B, Ecuador destroyed Fiji 9-0 in the last game of the group phase. The win saw Ecuador finish as runners-up in Group B behind the United States and qualify for the round of 16.
The other four teams that have confirmed their passage to the round of 16 of the 2023 U-20 World Cup are Colombia, Nigeria, England and Gambia. The four teams just have to ensure the position of group winners in the final match.
In Group C, Japan will face Israel in the last game to fight for automatic tickets to qualify for the last 16. Two big teams, Brazil and Italy, will compete to get the last ticket from Group D.
Uruguay and Tunisia will compete to qualify from Group E. Meanwhile, in Group F, South Korea only needs a draw against Gambia in the last match to qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
