Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Chelsea officially fired Graham Potter from the coaching chair on Sunday (2/4), one day after The Blues defeated Aston Villa in the Premier League.
“Chelsea FC announces that Graham Potter has left the club. Graham has agreed to collaborate with the club to facilitate a smooth transition,” Chelsea wrote on the club’s official website.
Recruited by Chelsea on September 8 2022 as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, Potter failed to bring the Blues to great achievements even though the new club owner, Todd Boehly, spent hundreds of millions of pounds to recruit new players.

“During his time at the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contributions and wish him all the best for the future,” Chelsea wrote in a statement.
Potter became Chelsea coach in less than seven months. The former Brighton coach was only able to win 12 wins from 31 matches with Chelsea.
Chelsea are currently slumped in 11th place in the Premier League standings with 38 points, trailing up to 34 points from Arsenal at the top of the standings.
As a replacement for Potter, Chelsea’s management temporarily appointed Bruno Saltor as interim coach. Saltor was previously Potter’s assistant at Chelsea.
“On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to sincerely thank Graham for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the utmost respect for Graham as a coach and as a person.”
“Along with our amazing fans, we will all support Bruno Saltor and our team focused on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games remaining and the Champions League quarter-finals. We will put every effort and commitment into every game so we can ended the season on a high,” Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said in a joint statement.
