The Pertamina refinery in Dumai Riau explodes, houses and mosques are damaged

Pertamina’s oil refinery in Dumai, Riau, exploded on Saturday (1/4) night. As a result of the explosion, houses and mosques around the factory were damaged.

The Head of the Dumai Police, AKBP Nurhadi Ismanto, confirmed that the explosion occurred at the Pertamina Putri Tujuh Refinery. Now, he is at the crime scene (TKP).

“Yes. This is again at the TKP,” said Nurhadi, as reported by Detikcom.

One of the residents at the location, Rahmat, said he felt two strong vibrations during the explosion. Residents ran out of the house.

“Residents’ houses were damaged, which is a radius near the refinery. There is also a mosque around a 3-kilometer radius,” said Rahmat.

A number of videos circulating also show residents’ houses shaking due to the explosion at the refinery. The ceiling of the mosque was also seen collapsing because of the strong explosion.

“The factory exploded,” said the video recorder.
