Jokowi Will Invite the U-20 Indonesian National Team to the Palace

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir said the U-20 Indonesian National Team had received an invitation to the Palace to meet with President Joko Widodo.

Erick, who gave a press statement at the President’s Office, Friday (31/3) afternoon, explained that Jokowi would invite Muhammad Ferarri and friends.

“What is certain is of course that the President spoke to me earlier. The President will also invite the U-20 National Team, one or two days later. Of course there is a mechanism from the Palace that will do that.”

“Mr. President, he has presented the solutions. And of course I said my father would just go along, because this is the government that has to be present,” said Erick.

The U-20 Indonesian National Team has been quite badly affected by Indonesia’s cancellation as host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup which was planned to start on May 20.

With the revocation of host status, the Indonesian representatives are not entitled to appear at the junior World Cup.

Shin Tae Yong’s team who plan to carry out TC in Korea ahead of the 2023 U-20 World Cup are still in Jakarta.

FIFA officially canceled the 2023 U-20 World Cup in Indonesia on Wednesday (29/3) after canceling the planned draw for the U-20 World Cup in Bali earlier this week, which was supposed to take place today in Bali.

The 2023 U-20 World Cup has the potential to take place in Argentina after FIFA acknowledged that the South American country had already initiated the process of applying to replace Indonesia and that the announcement of the host would take place in the near future.
