This was conveyed by the Head of the Legal Information Center for the Attorney General’s Office, Ketut Sumedana, in a written statement, Thursday (30/3).

“The head of the Attorney General’s Legal Information Center conveyed one of the considerations of the Public Prosecutor, namely that the accused is an intellectual father or the main actor in all cases handled by the Attorney General’s Office, so his sentence must be heavier than the other defendants,” said Ketut.

Teddy is considered legally and convincingly proven to have been guilty of committing the criminal act of participating without rights or unlawfully offering to sell, sell, become an intermediary in buying and selling, exchanging and handing over Narcotics Group I non-plants, which weigh more than 5 grams.

“Imposed the death penalty on the defendant Teddy Minahasa Putra with an order for the accused to remain in custody,” said the prosecutor while reading out the indictment at the West Jakarta District Court, Thursday (30/3).

Teddy is considered proven guilty of violating Article 114 Paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

There are eight things that incriminate Teddy in this lawsuit, namely, he is a member of the National Police with the position of West Sumatra Regional Police Chief, where as a law enforcer, especially with the position of Regional Police Chief, the accused should be at the forefront in eradicating the illicit traffic of narcotics.

He is also considered to have enjoyed the profits from the sale of methamphetamine-type narcotics. In addition, Teddy also did not admit what he had done.

The prosecutor stated that there was no mitigating circumstances for Teddy.

This crime involves a number of parties. Besides Teddy, the defendants in this case are AKBP Dody Prawiranegara, Kompol Kasranto, Aiptu Janto P. Situmorang, Linda Pujiastuti alias Anita, Muhammad Nasir, and Syamsul Maarif.

Dody was charged by the prosecutor with a sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of IDR 2 billion, a subsidiary of 6 months in prison in this case. Meanwhile, Linda was charged with 18 years in prison and a fine of IDR 2 billion, a subsidiary of 6 months in prison.

Meanwhile, Kasranto and Syamsul Ma’arif were both charged with 17 years in prison and a fine of IDR 2 billion, a subsidiary of 6 months in prison in this case.

Previously, Teddy was charged with trading in 5 kilograms (kg) of methamphetamine evidence confiscated by the Bukittinggi Police.

Initially, this case occurred when the Bukittinggi Police uncovered drug trafficking and seized 41,387 kg of methamphetamine as evidence on May 14, 2022.

At that time, Dody, who served as the Head of the Bukittinggi Police, reported the case to Teddy, who served as the Head of the West Sumatra Regional Police.

Teddy then ordered Dody to be rounded up to 41.4 kg. Apart from that, Teddy also asked Dody to exchange 10 kg of methamphetamine.
