The issue of rejection was exacerbated by statements from politicians and local governments. Two of them came from the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster and the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo.
One of the U-20 Indonesian players who is known to be vocal about voicing his concerns on social media, Hokky Caraka, joined the lively Instagram comment column which was attacked by netizens first.
Hokky did not hesitate to call Ganjar Pranowo the destroyer of his dream of appearing in the U-20 World Cup which was supposed to be held in six Indonesian cities.
“Thank you very much, sir. Oh yes, sir, we know that your fate is guaranteed and your future is already good. As for us, sir?”
“We just wanted to start a better career, but our father has already destroyed our stepping stone,” explained Hokky.

The U-20 National Team goalkeeper Cahya Supriyadi is also itching to comment on the PDIP politician’s Instagram.
“Thank you, sir. The dream of this village boy who wants to defend Indonesia in the World Cup is just a dream, sir! Our prayers, you are always healthy. The dreams of this nation’s children are in vain, sir,” said Cahya.
Meanwhile Marselino Ferdinan wrote a sarcastic comment in Javanese to Ganjar.
“Be healthy, sir. It’s okay sir, I’m not angry. Anyway, I hope you are fresh and healthy,” wrote Marselino.
Robi Darwis and Arkhan Fikri were also not left behind. The two of them also criticized Ganjar, who had refused to allow Israel to appear in the U-20 World Cup, causing FIFA to revoke Indonesia’s host status.
“Thank you sir, my parents couldn’t tell their friends that they have children who are very proud of being able to play in the World Cup,” wrote Arkhan.
“Father is satisfied to bury our dream of playing in the U-20 World Cup!!!? said Robi Darwis.
