Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Bali will host the 2023 World Beach Games on August 5-12 with Israel being one of the participants.
The status of the 2023 World Beach Games is now a big question after the controversy over the cancellation of the 2023 U-20 World Cup draw.
The draw for the 2023 U-20 World Cup should have taken place on Friday (31/3) in Bali. However, because the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster refused Israel’s arrival, FIFA decided to cancel the drawing.
The situation for the 2023 U-20 World Cup and the 2023 World Beach Games is the same, namely that they both have Israel as one of the participating countries.
The Israel U-20 national team has qualified for the 2023 U-20 World Cup in Indonesia after finishing runner-up to the U-19 Euros. Meanwhile, quoted from the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), Israel is one of the 36 NOCs that have qualified for the 2023 World Beach Games in Bali.
According to the ANOC release, Israel’s representative who will appear at the 2023 World Beach Games is the women’s category for open water swimming events.
“While the women’s event, those who qualified were NOC Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Australia, Netherlands, Japan, United States, Hungary, Hong Kong, China, Israel, South Africa, Czech Republic, Turkey, People’s Republic of China, Canada, Republic of Korea, Peru, New Zealand, Seychelles and Slovenia,” ANOC wrote.
The fate of the 2023 World Beach Games, which is only four months away, is now a big question. Back polemic or not?
This is because, two months before the 2023 U-20 World Cup, I Wayan Koster had just declared his rejection of Israel. Meanwhile, according to a release from the Ministry of Youth and Sports in January, Wayan Koster expressed his willingness to become one of the city hosts for the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
The Israel U-20 national team itself has been declared qualified for the 2023 U-20 World Cup since June 2022 after becoming a semifinalist for the U-19 European Cup, before finally finishing as runners up.
