Italian Journalist Di Marzio: Indonesia Could Be Penalized by FIFA for Several Years

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Renowned Italian sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio said Indonesia could be banned from participating in FIFA tournaments for several years for rejecting Israel in the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

Indonesia is hosting the 2023 U-20 World Cup which will be held from 20 May to 11 June. However, two months before the tournament the rejection of Israel became more intense.

Not only at the organizational level, the government level also made objections, one of which was the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster. Wayan Koster’s refusal made FIFA cancel the draw for the 2023 U-20 World Cup which was supposed to be held in Bali, Friday (31/3).

The cancellation of the 2023 U-20 World Cup draw by FIFA is now in the world’s spotlight. One of them is a senior Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio.

Through his official website, Di Marzio, assessed that Indonesia could receive severe sanctions from FIFA regarding the holding of the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

“Indonesia is now facing very high fines and even banned from participating in FIFA tournaments for several years,” said Di Marzio.

The 48-year-old man who now works at Sky Sports said FIFA could provide information regarding the cancellation of the 2023 U-20 World Cup draw in the next few hours.
