Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Marc Marquez is deemed deserving of at least one race ban after crashing into Miguel Oliveira from RNF in the 2023 Portugal MotoGP at the Algarve Circuit, Sunday (26/3).
Marquez is now under attack from fellow racers after the incident with Oliveira. One of them is Aprilia racer Aleix Espargaro.
Quoted from Crash, Aleix Espargaro assessed that Marc Marquez deserved to be punished for at least one race after the accident with Miguel Oliveira.
“For me, they (Race Direction) should ban him for one race, at minimum. Like Takaaki Nakagami in Barcelona,” said Espargaro.
“I don’t make the rules. I just hope Miguel is okay. The speed of the impact can crush your knee,” Espargaro added.
The Spaniard also recalled the Brad Binder incident that hit him causing him to suffer from prolonged illness.
“Brad hit my knee, and I was sick for a year. So I hope Miguel is okay,” said Aleix Espargaro.
Luckily, in the accident at corner 3, lap 2 of the Portuguese MotoGP, Oliveira did not suffer any serious injuries, such as broken bones.
On this occasion, Aleix also discussed a number of incidents that occurred during the Portuguese MotoGP. Starting from Joan Mir who nudged Fabio Quartararo to the Luca Marini incident with Enea Bastianini.
“We have a million cameras on the bike. Why can’t they see these cameras and analyze them? We are only 20 riders, not 100,” said Espargaro.
