MotoGP: Marquez Sees Audience Animo at Sprint Race

The 2023 MotoGP season looks crucial for Repsol Honda. After pre-season tests at Sepang and Portimao, it became clear that the Japanese brand still has some steps to take to return to the track it should be, namely revalidating the motor racing world title.

Japan’s structure has undergone changes, such as the arrival of Ken Kawauchi as technical director. However, performance on the track is still far from convincing the racers.

Regardless of whatever the team is doing to save the season, Marquez and Joan Mir should be ready to embark on a new adventure this weekend. Like it or not, they have to change their approach because of the Sprint Race.

“Now we have to start focusing on the first race and remember that racing and practice are very different,” said the six-time MotoGP world champion.

“This year, we have a new challenge which is the Sprint Race on Saturday, a short and intense race which I am sure will give the fans joy.

“You always have those emotions and feelings before fighting again. We’ve had a very busy pre-season in which we’ve collected a lot of data and are looking to the future.”

Meanwhile, Joan Mir also highlighted his desire to make his debut with Honda in his fifth season in the top class.

“Only a few days are left before my debut with the colors of the Repsol Honda team. This is the moment I have dreamed of, being on the grid as a racer for this team,” commented the 2020 MotoGP world champion.

Apart from that, Mir also highlighted the room for improvement that the new motorbike from the team bearing the golden wing still has.

“There is still work to be done, we still have a lot to try and improve, but racing is of a different intensity. Let’s see what we can do at Portimao, the important thing is to continue to build from where we finished testing and take consistent steps forward,” he said.
