Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, Monday (3/10) morning, received a delegation from the German parliament. He expressed his gratitude to the country for supporting Taiwan when China carried out military exercises in the Taiwan Strait.
“In August this year, China launched a prolonged military exercise and interfered in the existing regional order. Germany is the head of this year’s G7 countries. The country has also released a joint statement through the G7 foreign commission condemning the act as it happened,” Tsai said.
Tsai also congratulated the delegates on October 3 being Germany’s National Day.
Klaus-Peter Willsch, chair of the German-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group, led an eight-member delegation to Taiwan. This is the first parliamentary delegation from Germany to visit Taiwan since the COVID-19 pandemic began in late 2019. [ka/ab]
