Soybean prices are currently out of control and are followed by increases in the prices of other raw materials
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – Tofu craftsmen in the Cibuntu industrial center, Bandung City complained that the price of the staple tofu, soybeans, continued to climb. The increase in subsidized fuel prices also raises soybean price which is getting higher.
“The condition is now up to Rp 13 thousand per kilogram, more than Rp 12 thousand since before the increase in fuel prices, now the price of fuel has gone up even worse,” said one tofu craftsman Cibuntu Dindin when confirmed, Monday (3/10/2022).
He said the condition was exacerbated by the reduced purchasing power of the people due to the increase in fuel prices. In order to minimize losses, Dindin admitted that he was forced to reduce tofu production.
“Now mah my production now no too much will wasted love especially expensive materials. It’s better to reduce production than for me to be in a lot of trouble,” he said.
He said that he used to process five tons of soybeans a day as raw material for tofu. However, currently, the reduction is up to 50 percent, which is only three tons. “Almost 50 percent reduced production,” said Dindin.
Dindin said the price of soybeans is currently out of control, including the price hikes for plastic bags, turmeric, salt, and others. He hoped that his party, through the tofu craftsmen association, could meet the relevant agencies to discuss the issue.
“Yes, if from the community want to meet with the relevant department. Want some communication? how solutions and solutions,” he said.
He said he had met with the West Java Province Disperindag and would submit complaints to the tofu craftsmen to the central government. In addition to reducing production, his party also raised the price of tofu.
“Now production has reduced and prices have increased, an increase of Rp 5,000 rupiah per box containing 100. I produce many sizes of types. To cover (production) the increase is actually less, but yes than nothing,” he said.
