Tear gas was shot into the stands while the stands were still full of people.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG — Aremania from UIN Malang, Yoga told what actually happened in the Kanjuruhan tragedy, Saturday (1/10/2022). This includes clarifying allegations Aremania who want to attack the players.
Yoga did not deny that there were indeed two Aremania who entered the stadium after the match was over. But they aim to give encouragement to the players Arema FC. “There was no intention to attack the players,” said Yoga when met by reporters in Malang, Monday (2/10/2022).
When the new whistle was blown to mark the end of the match, the Persebaya Surabaya players immediately ran and entered the VIP room. Two Aremania entered when the players Arema FC sit in the middle of the field for five minutes. The players seemed to regret not being able to bring victory to the ‘Singo Edan’ team.
When Aremania was about to talk to the player, the security guard steward immediate security. There was no resistance from Aremania who asked to return to the stands. But this was misunderstood by Aremania in the other stands so they went down.
It is very unfortunate when the police are silent. More precisely when the two Aremania were about to come to Arema FC players. Whereas the authorities can provide security by making shields and so on.
When the situation heated up, the officers were also seen running and retreating to the ground bench player. Then when many Aremania took to the field, tear gas was shot into a number of areas of the stands in stages.
Yogi himself deeply regrets the shooting steps taken by the authorities. “Tear gas was shot into the stands when there were still a lot of people in the stands, even though tear gas can make the audience panic, causing a buildup,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aremania from Batu City, Dadang assessed that the actions taken by the authorities were excessive. Even though many fans understand and are smart in dealing with this. The officers simply reminded them without resorting to violence against Aremania.
Dadang also deeply regrets the condition Kanjuruhan Stadium which looks unreliable. As is known, the Arema FC match against Persib Bandung in 2018 caused the death of one Aremania. This experience should encourage managers to create evacuation routes when unwanted events occur.
“Why isn’t that there? Why is the door closed? Is there a plan for mass murder?” said Dadang.
In addition, he also criticized PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB). Based on the available evidence, the Arema FC Panpel has actually sent a letter requesting a change in the match schedule. However, PT LIB still held Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya matches at night even though it was a vulnerable hour.
Furthermore, Dadang reminded the East Java Police to provide the real facts. Polda should not just accept reports from subordinates because there are many things that are not appropriate.
“And remember that the subordinate police will not act without the commander’s orders. They are only subordinates. They will not act like that if there is no order from the commander,” he asserted.
As is known, there are many reports of victims with varying numbers. However, the police revealed that there were 125 people who died as a result of the Kanjuruhan tragedy. This number was taken from the victims who were recorded at hospitals in the Greater Malang area.
Meanwhile, there were many victims who died who were immediately brought by their families to their respective homes. Therefore, Aremania assesses that the number of deaths is predicted to be higher than the figure set by the government.
