Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Two of the producers of the 007 franchise Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson revealed the main requirements for actors who want to play the character James Bond.
They say being James Bond is not trivial. The actor is said to be ready to commit for a long time to play the character of the British secret agent created by Ian Fleming in 1953.
“When we chose Bond, it was a 10-12 year commitment. So it would make people think ‘Do I really want this?’ Because not everyone wants to do that,” said Barbara Broccoli as reported VarietyWednesday (21/9).
“Back then it was quite difficult to make [Daniel Craig melakukannya],” added Broccoli.
Wilson’s statement immediately chimed in, “He was in his early 30s at the time!”
The tenacity of these two producers in choosing Bond actors is not without reason. They said many young actors were judged so eager to get the role.
However, many of them are not ready to understand and commit to enter the franchise in the long term.
“A lot of people think, ‘Wow, that would be really fun to do,'” said Broccoli, bursting into laughter.
“Well, that way won’t work,” he said.
In addition to commitment matters, Wilson also underlined another important thing attached to Bond’s character, namely business matters that will be important for the development of their production house, Eon Productions.
“This is also a big investment for us, which is to reveal who the new Bond will be,” said Wilson.
