It is important for citizens to understand, be proud, and love rupiah.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR – Bank Indonesia (BI) conducted a socialization and ‘Cinta-Proud-Paham Rupiah’ campaign in the Tibel’s 2022 Backpack. This socialization was intended to instill a sense of love, pride and understanding of the rupiah currency to the public.
This socialization was delivered on the sidelines of a camping activity for residents of the Pelita Air Service, Rangkapjaya Baru, Pancoran Mas, which was held in Puncak Bogor, 20-21 August 2022.
Rupiah fighter from the Money Management Department of Bank Indonesia, Ratno Rachmawan explained that it is important for the public to love and be proud of the rupiah. He said, Rupiah is the only legal transaction tool used in Indonesia. “Before the regulation regarding the use of rupiah in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, there were still many who transacted using dollars. Even hotels can be paid for using dollars,” said the man who is usually called Wawan.
Love-Proud-Understanding Rupiah is a form of state defense. “The release of Sipadan Ligitan from the Republic of Indonesia is also influenced by the lack of transactions using rupiah by the community,” he said.
The love for the rupiah, continued Wawan, is shown by recognizing, caring for and safeguarding the rupiah as the only legal tender in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia. By maintaining and caring for the rupiah, the characteristics of the authenticity of the rupiah become easy to recognize and avoid the circulation of counterfeit and unfit for circulation.
“Proud of the Rupiah is shown by using the rupiah in every transaction. By using the rupiah in every transaction, we have helped maintain the stability of the rupiah exchange rate and build world confidence in the rupiah,” said Wawan.
As for Understanding Rupiah, said Wawan, it is shown by understanding the function of the rupiah as an exchange rate and how to manage it. For example, by transacting and shopping wisely, thrifty, and investing.
Wawan emphasized that the Cinta-Proud-Paham Rupiah campaign would continue to be implemented. This is because Cinta-Proud and Understanding Rupiah is a form of commitment to love for the symbol of state sovereignty.
“We hope that people will love, understand and be more proud of the rupiah. Because this is a symbol of sovereignty and a unifying tool for the nation,” he said
