BIJB already has plans to build an e-commerce hub cargo area.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II (Persero) plans to develop West Java International Airport (BIJB), Kertajati this year so that it can become a logistics center. President director AP II Muhammad Awaluddin said this was to support the Ministry of Transportation’s plan to make ATTACHED as logistics center dan Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO).
Awaluddin believes that this development can be carried out in line with positive trends cargo throughout 2021. “This is the right time to develop BIJB as a logistics center,” said Awaluddin in his written statement, Monday (10/1/2022).
He said that currently the aircraft passenger transport sector is still in the recovery stage, but the cargo transport air has shown positive results. For example, Awaluddin said, throughout 2021 the movement of cargo transportation at 20 airports managed by AP II cumulatively reached 945,547 tons, a significant increase of 24.6 percent compared to 2020.
Awaluddin said the increase in the volume of cargo transportation was mainly influenced by the activity of the sector e-commerce. For that, Awaluddin considered, BIJB should also be able to seize this opportunity.
Moreover, AP II estimates that by 2022, the volume of cargo transportation will continue to grow, driven by the increasingly active sector e-commerce. “We estimate that the volume of cargo transportation at 20 AP II airports in 2022 can reach a total of around one million tons. Kertajati Airport and AP II airports must ensure that they can accommodate needs along with the growing volume of cargo transportation,” said Awaluddin.
He confirmed that BIJB already has a plan to build a cargo area e-commerce hubs. Awaluddin said the plan was made to provide facilities that can support the delivery of goods or cargo.
Meanwhile, BIJB President Director Muhamad Singgih said the e-commerce hub in Indonesia Kertajati Airport It has an area of about 68.4 hectares. “Kertajati Airport will build an e-commerce hub with a capacity of up to 500 thousand tons per year. Currently, there is a development plan to build this e-commerce hub,” said Singgih.
