Assignments and initiatives to expand household jargas continue to be carried out.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Throughout 2021, Sales Operation Region 3 (SOR 3) for the East Java and Central Java regions of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) has distributed 145.7 BBTUD to customers in the household sector, small customers/MSMEs, to industry. Distribution natural gas last year increased along with the addition of new customers in various areas in Central Java and East Java.
Currently, SOR III distributes natural gas to 101,638 household customers, 352 small customers, 560 industrial commercial customers, and two corporate customers. Throughout 2021, there will be 17 additional new customers from the commercial industry operating in the hospitality, paper, chemical, restaurant, mall, and sectors fabricated metal. In addition, there were 37 additional small customers who were mostly engaged in laundry, catering, food stalls/depots, home-made cakes, including hospitals. The new customers are spread across Semarang, Surabaya, Pasuruan, and Bojonegoro.
Assignments from the government and initiatives to expand household jargas continue to be carried out. In January-December 2021, the construction of the gas grid at SOR 3 has installed 71,799 household connections.
“For the first distribution to household customers at SOR 3 in 2021, 28,455 connections have been reached,” said General Manager of SOR 3 Iwan Yuli Widyastanto, Monday (10/1/2022).
As for the development and management of natural gas infrastructure, SOR 3 has integrated all subsidiaries and affiliates, so that the expansion of customer reach will be more flexible and effective. “With an integrated natural gas infrastructure, it is expected to be one of the keys to the development of natural gas-based energy and industrial and economic growth in Central Java and East Java,” said Iwan.
He added that the gas subholding at SOR 3 currently has assets of the Kalija 1 transmission pipeline of 200 km that carries natural gas from the Kepodang Field off the north coast of Semarang, the Gresik-Semarang transmission pipeline of 275 km with a pipe design capacity of 330 MMSCFD, ORF Tambak. Rejo, Jumperline Tambak Lorok, and Mother Station CBG in Blora.
In East Java, there are natural gas pressure control and distribution stations as well as Jargas MRS spread across Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, Mojokerto, Surabaya, Probolinggo, and Gresik. Through Pertagas, the gas subholding also has an ORF station and a Sidoarjo metering station, as well as a GRE Station in Gresik.
Considering various factors, the use of natural gas is considered very helpful for the competitiveness of its users. One of the reasons is that the price of natural gas is still more competitive compared to other energies. Iwan said that accessibility and natural gas services will continue to be improved so that the positive impact of using natural gas can be felt as one of the drivers of the community’s economy.
