He and the community renovated the 30-year-old decayed mosque.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GORONTALO — TNI member from the Kodim 1314, Village Development Officer (Babinsa) Sergeant Two Ishak Nur set aside his salary to renovate Al Muhadjirin mosque in Pilolalenga Village, Dungaliyo District, Gorontalo Regency.
“The community appointed me as the mosque construction committee, I just started from what was there first,” he said, Monday (10/1/2022).
He admitted that as a TNI soldier, he was ready to help the community in accordance with the leadership’s direction that the people must be helped. The mosque, which has been 30 years old, was renovated because the wooden building has started to rot and its size is only 6×7 square meters.
The renovation of the mosque is now using brick and cement so that it becomes a permanent building and is wider to 11×12 square meters. “Previously, the condition of this mosque was rather small in size, and the frame was still made of wood, there was no iron bone, so the people wanted a new mosque, like it or not, we want to make just now,” he said.
For development funds, the congregation began to make donations and he set aside his salary to buy cement and iron. In addition, the local community also collects crops from their gardens, such as bananas, coconuts, cassava and sweet potatoes to sell and the money from the sales for the construction of mosques.
One of the local village community leaders, Anton Labdul, said the condition of the mosque was old and damaged, so it had to be renovated. “Sir Babinsa this is active in mosque activities and the congregation chose him as the head of mosque development, “he said.
According to Anton, the mosque was used for congregational worship from the villages of Kaliyoso, Ayuhula, and Pilolalenga.
