REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLOK — Dozens of residents affected by flooding in Nagari Air Cold, Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, were forced to evacuate to their relatives’ houses, which are safer and still need logistical assistance. Acting Guardian of Cold Water Nagari, Heril Wandi in Air Cold, Sunday (10/1/2022), said that currently a number of residents are still cleaning up flood materials that hit their homes on Saturday (8/1) yesterday.
“Alhamdulillah, no one is living in refugee camps. The flood victims are temporarily staying at their relatives’ houses. Because it is still raining in the local area,” he said.
In addition, he also said that so far the assistance that has come is in the form of cleaning flood materials from the sub-district fire department and from the district BPBD solo carried out with local residents. He also said that the assistance that came from the Nagari Air Cold government was in the form of rice that had been distributed.
“Many residents are flooded,” he said.
In addition, the assistance needed by flood victims at this time includes clothing, food, rice, and some assistance logistics other. “Hopefully the local community will get help soon because some equipment and other logistics are submerged due to the flood,” he said.
He also appealed to local residents to be steadfast in facing the test and remain vigilant and look for a safer place for temporary evacuation. In addition, he said that due to flooding from the overflowing Batang Hari river, 30 houses and 95 people, one mosque, and five hectares of land were planted with vegetables such as shallots.
“Alhamdulillah, so far, based on the information we have gathered, there have been no casualties as a result of the disaster,” he said.
He also said the flood came from the overflow of the Batang Hari River in the area due to heavy rainfall.
