The MotoGP era is entering its 21st year, or 74 if the category is enlarged to become the world motorcycle racing championship, marked by a long schedule and more teams.
Dorna will host 21 races, starting from Losail, Qatar, 6 March 2022, and ending in Valencia, 6 November 2022.
The competition will be joined by 12 teams, one more than last season, where there were three newcomers. Petronas SRT, changed its name to RNF Racing after splitting from a Malaysian oil company. After breaking up a partnership with Aprilia, Gresini Racing was replaced as a satellite Ducati team.
Meanwhile, the manufacturer Noale set up his own team. VR46, owned by Valentino Rossi, expands to the premier level with sponsor Mooney.

Ducati swept two titles at the 2021 MotoGP for the constructors and teams categories. Of course, this structure is maintained for next season. There has been no announcement when the manufacturer will show the Desmosedici GP22.
Yamaha Factory Racing
Although only one, Yamaha brought home a prestigious title in the name of Fabio Quartararo. The new world champion will fight aboard the YZR-M1. Franco Morbidelli finally got the latest edition of the motorcycle. They haven’t set a release date yet.
Suzuki lost everything after claiming the world drivers’ championship thanks to Joan Mir and the best team of 2020. Last season, they were less competitive so they were crushed by their opponents. The team maintains the formation of the Spanish duo, Mir and Alex Rins. Presentation time options are still open.
Two tough seasons for Repsol Honda, along with the less than optimal performance of Marc Marquez. After suffering a fracture of the humerus of his right arm, the six-time MotoGP world champion suffered a mild concussion and diplopia.
As a result, Marquez could not maximally help the development of the RC213V. The presence of The Baby Alien in the test is still in doubt. The Spaniard will be back in tandem with Pol Espargaro. There is no information when they show off livery new.
After losing concessions, KTM’s performance even declined even though the driver had given a victory in 2021. They are determined to bounce back in the 2022 season, with Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira riding the RC16. No presentation date yet.
Aprilia now manages her own team. The sixth manufacturer to pave the way in MotoGP is again relying on Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales, who only joined last September after being kicked out by Yamaha. It is not clear when the 2022 Aprilia RS-GP will be shown to the public.
The most successful satellite team for MotoGP 2021 has the full support of Ducati, with the Desmosedici GP22. The prize is worth it Rookie of the Year, Jorge Martin, and the best independent racer, Johann Zarco. Their presentation date is still waiting for the factory team.
After poor across in Moto3 and Moto2, Valentino Rossi’s squad tried their luck at the premier level. The Doctor’s half-brother, Luca Marini, and debutant Marco Bezzecchi, are the focus.
Both get different motor specs. Marini was given the Desmosedici GP22, while his juniors got the edition last season. Because it is still busy with sponsorship, VR46 has not yet chosen a release date.

After Fausto Gresini’s death, the team continued their struggle in MotoGP. Apart from Aprilia, they are even affiliated with a bigger manufacturer, Ducati.
Enea Bastianini, rookie MotoGP 2021 with Esponsorama Racing, becomes a symbol of Gresini Racing. He collaborated with Fabio Di Giannantonio, who previously competed in Moto2. Having limited funds, the team can only rent the Desmosedici GP21.
Gresini will show livery his motorbike from Faenza, Italy, on January 15 next.
Petronas SRT boss Razlan Razali founded the new RNF Racing team, taking the initials of his third son. They choose line-up like the earth and the sky.
Andrea Dovizioso, a seasoned MotoGP racer, will be paired with Moto3 alumni Darryn Binder. For the ex-Ducati pilot, Yamaha gave the 2022 M1 like the factory team spec. Whereas, rider South Africa, will ride a motorbike in 2021.
RNF Racing has selected 24 January 2022 and Verona, Italy, as the location for the squad presentation.
Lucio Cecchinello’s team remains under the auspices of Honda. Alex Marquez and Takaaki Nakagami have tried the 2022 RC213V in the test at Jerez. So far, they are very satisfied despite some suggestions for improvement. LCR is still keeping it a secret livery released.
The KTM satellite squad underwent a major overhaul after the great failure of the 2021 season. Herve Poncharal took the risk of replacing Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona, with two debutants. Moto2 world champion Remy Gardner and runner-up Raul Fernandez is expected to compete.
