Ahead of the 2022 MotoGP, it is very interesting to discuss the situation of the racer market. Next season, indeed all seats are filled.
However, there are some drivers whose contracts expire next season. The teams start hunting rider potential that will sit on their bikes in 2023.
One of them is Honda. Since Marc Marquez was absent in 2020, the manufacturer with the single-wing logo seems to have lost its way. Their report cards in the last two seasons are still unsatisfactory although relatively improved.
Disappointed with the results presented by Alex Marquez, a slot was also given to Pol Espargaro this year. Meanwhile, The Baby Alien’s younger brother was relegated to the satellite team, LCR Honda.
The change of motorbike from KTM to Honda made Espargaro have to learn a lot so it only got hot at the end. The Spaniard recorded runner-up in the Emilia Romagna MotoGP.
Of course, the team officials were not satisfied. With Marc Marquez not yet 100 percent fit plus there is a double vision problem in his eyes, they started looking for a quick solution by bringing in a young rider whose ability has been proven.
The last two world champions, Joan Mir and Fabio Quartararo, happened to meet the qualification. The manager of the French racer once revealed that Honda had contacted his side.
With some considerations including salary, it seems they are leaning towards Suzuki riders. Some time ago, news broke that El Diablo asked for a salary of 20 million euros (around Rp. 322.6 billion) for his new contract with Yamaha Factory Racing, and the quality of the motorbike was better.
Meanwhile, Mir made conditions for a new Suzuki team manager to replace Davide Brivio.
“Honda is desperately trying to recruit a champion racer and that is the right move to do. There are two names, Quartararo and Mir,” Pernat said in the program Bar Sport owned by GPOne.com.
“I think Joan will end up there because the costs are lower and she’s the right person. I thought it was a quick thing.
“I’m sure that at the start of the World Championships, the operation may be complete or close.”
The Gresini Racing racer manager, Enea Bastianini, made a surprising prediction about Marquez. According to him, the six-time MotoGP world champion is still absent at the Sepang test.
“Marc wants to know how he can race. The recovery time is not known yet,” Pernat continued.
“When nothing is said, it means there is no positive news. I don’t think Marquez will appear in the February test.”

Maybe there’s a change line-up Ducati after the success of buying up many awards this season. Did not rule out Jorge Martin promotion to accompany Francesco Bagnaia in the factory team.
“Johann Zarco and Jack Miller, 99 per cent probably leave, unless there is a surprise. They are available on the exchange. Jack is a good bet, but he comes with a lot of ups and downs.”
“Yamaha, on the other hand, is a manufacturer in a better position, having three strong riders, namely Quartararo, Franco Morbidelli and Toprak Razgatlioglu.”
