Ducati is trying to fix the weaknesses that exist in the GP21 in order to be able to go fast on all types of tracks, as well as allow the riders to compete tightly throughout the season.
The factory Borgo Panigales showed an impressive performance with the most wins presented by three factory and satellite drivers throughout 2021, namely Bagnaia (4), Jack Miller (2) and rookie Jorge Martin (1).
This impressive record led Ducati to successfully secure the constructors’ title in two consecutive seasons. Also the squad commanded by Davide Tardozzi sealed the team title after the Bagnaia-Miller duo took the podium in Valencia.
After the 2021 season ended, Bagnaia said that the Ducati Desmosedici GP21 was the perfect bike. However, it still needs some improvements.
Italiano is delighted that Ducati is listening carefully to all the information from the riders who make the 2022 bike so much better. He also believes the Desmosedici GP22 package is ready to fight.
“I think Ducati has heard a lot from the riders, from me, Jack, Zarco, Martin, because I asked for a bike that was easier to ride,” Bagnaia said during a chat at podcast Tank Slappers Autosport.
“Everyone says the Ducati is the easiest bike, the fastest bike. This is a better motor to use.
“But it’s something I can’t understand because I’m not saying the other bike is the best because I didn’t try it. So, it’s really hard to say anything about another bike without trying it.
“But I asked to have a bike that is easy to ride on fast tracks with fast corners, because our bike is not easy in that situation.
“With fairing New, I’m starting to feel a little better but also have some weak points. So, I’m sure the engineer work hard for it.”
Actually, there are not many changes to the Ducati bike when it comes to physical terms, it’s just that there are two fairing different aerodynamics tested at Jerez.
However, engineer Ducati continues to work hard on the Desmosedici GP electronic system to give the bike a better balance.
“At the test at Jerez, when we tested the new bike it felt really great because I did it with a full fuel tank and also with the tires. medium, ”Said Bagnaia.
“So, it’s amazing and like a new bike. Every time you start with a new bike, you have to adapt to it.
“I started well, I worked hard for two days and on the second day everything was fine, even racing. If the day after tomorrow we have to race, I can start with that bike.
“So, guys engineer Ducati has done a great job with the new bike and I’m sure for testing in Malaysia we will definitely find some new surprises.”
