Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said many residents who returned from abroad asked for quarantine free at the Covid-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) Wisma Atlet.
This was conveyed by Luhut in response to the issue of passenger accumulation at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. He said these people wanted to make a profit.
According to him, they were forced to join the free quarantine at the Wisma Atlet even though they did not meet the criteria set by the government.
“Many are shopping abroad, shopping, doesn’t want to be quarantined in a hotel, even though he can. He asked that he be quarantined at Wisma Atlet because it is free,” said Luhut, Monday (12/20).
Luhut said he had asked Polda Metro Jaya to check Soekarno-Hatta Airport. According to him, the government does not want people to circumvent the quarantine rules.
He said that the quarantine at the Wisma Atlet must comply with the rules that have been determined. Management improvements must be made so that no one is looking for profit in quarantine at the Athlete’s House.
“We will take action against people who do this kind of thing,” he said.
